Purpose of the position 

Seeking a technically skilled OA/Onsite Engineer to support enterprise manufacturing systems and onsite IT infrastructure at our Houston production facility. This role combines SAP/MES systems support, manufacturing systems integration, project coordination, and IT infrastructure support to ensure stable operations across both the shop floor and corporate IT environment.
The ideal candidate will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and IT teams to support critical platforms such as SAP, MES, SCADA, and local IT infrastructure while providing end-user support, troubleshooting, system optimization, and technical documentation. This role plays a key part in maintaining production uptime, operational efficiency, and system reliability within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires effective collaboration with global IT teams.

Duties and Responsibilities 

IT Infrastructure & End-User Support
  • Provide support for desktops, laptops, Windows devices, printers, and peripherals.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, VPN, and network access issues.
  • Support Windows, macOS, Linux, servers, and local infrastructure.
  • Manage Active Directory user accounts and permissions.
Networking & Security
  • Support LAN/WAN connectivity and network devices.
  • Troubleshoot network and VPN connectivity issues.
  • Maintain endpoint security, patching, and antivirus.
  • Support Active Directory account administration.
Incident Management
  • Resolve IT incidents through the ticketing system.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring issues.
  • Prioritize production-critical support requests.
  • Maintain accurate incident documentation.
Asset & Infrastructure Management
  • Manage IT hardware and software inventory.
  • Support installation and maintenance of production IT equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with IT standards and security policies.
Manufacturing Systems Support
  • Support SAP, MES, and SCADA systems.
  • Troubleshoot production system issues.
  • Maintain system configurations, user roles, and workflows.
  • Monitor system performance to minimize downtime.
Systems Integration & Testing
  • Perform integration testing between manufacturing and enterprise systems.
  • Validate system interoperability and data accuracy.
  • Support upgrades, patches, and new system implementations.
Implementation, Projects & Optimization
  • Assist with implementation and configuration of manufacturing systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Coordinate assigned IT and manufacturing system projects.
  • Support Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing initiatives.
Training & Documentation
  • Train end users on manufacturing and IT systems.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and technical documentation.
  • Deliver presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain system and asset documentation.
 

Education 

Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience in manufacturing or enterprise environments. 
  • Experience supporting SAP, MES, and manufacturing systems. 
  • Experience with project coordination or project management. 
  • Experience using ticketing systems and technical documentation.  Technical Skills
  • SAP, MES, and SCADA platforms.
  • Windows, macOS, Linux administration.
  • End-user support for Windows devices, software, printers, VPN, and network  access.
  • Active Directory, account management, and basic networking.
  • SQL/reporting tools (preferred).

Preferred Skills

  • Mandarin Chinese proficiency (preferred). 
  • Experience with global manufacturing environments. 
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 technologies. 
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Collaborative with cross-functional and global IT teams.

Work Environment

  • Onsite position at the Houston manufacturing facility. 
  • Collaboration with production, engineering, and global IT teams. 
  • Occasional after-hours support for upgrades and production events.
