Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Field Application Engineer (FAE) to serve as the critical technical liaison between our key customers in the smartphone industry and our back-end manufacturing teams in Asia. The ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of phone manufacturing processes, to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM), support product development builds, and drive successful mass production. This role requires excellent bilingual communication skills and a willingness to travel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customers, reviewing 2D drawings and 3D CAD models to identify potential manufacturing issues and optimization opportunities.
  • Analyze, prepare, and present comprehensive DFM (Design for Manufacturability) reports to customers, translating their feedback into clear, actionable items for the engineering team and ensuring follow-through.
  • Support product development phases (EVT/DVT/PVT) by traveling to manufacturing sites in Asia or providing remote support for engineering builds, manufacturing processes, and quality control initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the business development team to strengthen customer relationships and identify new business opportunities by promoting our technical solutions and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide daily technical support and maintain clear, timely communication with customers' engineering and procurement teams.
  • Facilitate smooth information flow and problem resolution between the customer and internal manufacturing, process, and quality engineering teams.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-5 years of experience in SMT (Surface Mount Technology), PCB design engineering, or a closely related role within electronics manufacturing.
  • Specific, technically-oriented experience with phone products is highly preferred.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Field Application Engineer, Customer Engineer) or sales engineering is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks), drafting tools, and CAM software (e.g., CAM350, inCAM) is advantageous.
  • Must be self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision, and adept at using sound judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Fluent (oral and written) in both English and Chinese (Mandarin) is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to Asia for up to 25% of the time.
